Ideas to get you into Elul

Hello everybody! Hope you are enjoying your last week or two of vacation!
Because, were suddenly going to have a run in with reality in 3, 2, 1-

It’s that time of year again. What time of year? THAT time!
Oh…you don’t recognize it because your brain is still in vacation mode.
Well, let me show you….

Okay, so last year, I wrote about forgiving others:
Forgiveness Part 1
Forgiveness Part 2

And another post of Chizuk

For now though, I’d like to give you some ideas to get you into Elul whether you are out of school, not yet in, or still in camp, besides the things I mentioned last year on the post above.

  1. Spend some time thinking every day about Elul. Choose a time, maybe right after you wake up, or right before you go to sleep. Think about what Hashem wants us to do in this month. He wants us to look at ourselves, what we did this year, how we improved, and how we can do better next year.
  2. Say Psalm 27 every day. Chazal tell us that we should do this to help ourselves get into our Elul.
  3. Listen to inspiring lectures. Find your favorite speaker on TorahAnytime, and see what he has to say about Elul. Go to speeches.

My next post will be about forgiving ourselves, and not being stuck in an endless cycle of pain over our past actions.
